- Since the creation fo the world widw web in 1989 rapid changes have been made in the way the media is recived especially the news.
- Amazon was first created in 1994 a site offering recommendations and alternative respomses.
- Google was then created in 1998 one ofthe largest search engines that exists, suggesting the use of links.
- Both have grown hugely since thier creation, google news was set up in 2002, in 2003 it bought blogger, then in 2004 it made it possible for people to subscribe, then there was G-mail using Microsoft to filter news, in 2005 they bought t-vo. Then in 2006 all of their vast range of offers where collected together onto a grid made accesable from the same place all over the world. Amazon created A9 in 2005 yet another news site. Over the years the world has given these sites personal information about themselves which are kept somewhwere by these internet sites.
- 'Googlezon' makes the assumption that google and Amazon eventually join together in 2008. Google offers its grid with Amazons personal suggestions. They take the idea that together they completly over take the news.
- With all of the personal details and information about your job, your income, hobbies the last DVD you bought they could personally advertise items of you interst without looking through unwanted offersd. They can specifically target you for advertising purposes.
- They can also use this idea when filtering news, you will not reciev any news that does not interest you, it will be from your own perspective and your bias opinion, you will only recieve news you want to hear about in the way you want to hear it.
- They predictthat in 2011 The New York Times sue 'Goolgezon' for copyright, 'Googlezon' simply filters the news and cuts it up devising stories. The danger is that it is un-true, facts and fiction will be muddled together un-checked and sent straight out in a personal account for people to read.
- In 2014 they predict that EPIC will be created (evolvimg personalized information consrtuct), the whole world will add to the news everyone recieves, people sending in photos and freelance journalist posting stories. Eventually The New York Times is no longer on-line and is just a news letter sent only to the elderly and the ellite.
This offers the fear that freedom of choice and other view points will be taken out of the equation for good.
